What I do
From program management to design through development and testing, I frequently have wanted to wear many hats in my career. I like to be engaged at every level of the creative process and I am always interested in new ideas and curious about how things work. I believe that in order to make a great project one should have some familiarity with the different disciplines of the process. Here are some of the technologies and concepts I use regularly:
- User Centered Design - Interface design and Human Computer Interaction
- Usability Testing - Prototyping and testing design concepts
- Information Architecture - Organizing and structuring content to promote usability and discoverability (SEO)
- Graphic Design - Creating user experiences and interfaces
- xHTML and CSS - Developing semantically correct web sites and separating content from presentation
- MS SQL and MYSQL- Setting up and maintaining databases, generating reports, data mining and storage
- ASP and PHP - Building dynamic web sites
- Flash - Producing animations and programming Rich Internet Applications
- Silverlight, .NET, WPF, and XAML - Producing animations and programming Rich Internet Applications
About this site
This web site, now in its fifth stage, was redesigned to showcase some of my professional projects. I built this web site using xhtml, css, php, and mysql. The xhtml and css should validate against xhtml 1.0 strict and a screen reader should be able to parse the web site. Example code and user interface designs that were designed and developed for employers and clients remain their respective property and are shown here by permission.
About me
I am a designer - developer living in Redmond, Washington with my family, enjoying the mountains. Before moving here, we spent five years in Houston, Texas. For the last 10 years, I have worked for small companies and large multi-nationals as a direct employee, contractor, and freelance professional.
Outside of the world of computers I love music and photography. If I am not attending a J. S. Bach recitial, I can usually be found outdoors with camera and tripod in hand and a grin from ear to ear.
